World Cup 2010 day 12: Evening round-up

The World Cup really did start to get serious today and two more teams are out. South Africa don't have far to go and can hold their head high while the French team deserve to have rotten vegetables thrown at them as they walk in shame down Champs Ellysees.

But, you'd think by the way I've gone on today that nothing else has happened, but it has and I am here, not long before two more big games tonight, to tell you about them. Well, four bits of news from two teams anyway - more coming tomorrow.

The first bit of news we have is from Arsene Wenger and he is convinced England will go through tomorrow. So are we and we don't know what all the fuss is about.

In more England news, well sort of, the fan that walked into the changing room at Green Point Stadium and is now stuck in South Africa on some jumped up charges, might be meeting David Beckham again a lot sooner than he thought. It turns out that Beckham could be called to give evidence in the trial.

But enough on England, as there will be loads of that tomorrow; to Portugal and did you know that Ronaldo hadn't scored for Portugal for two years? Neither did I, but we both do now.

Anyway, after celebrating that goal yesterday, he gave his man of the match award over to team-mate Tiago, who scored two of the goals in their 7-0 demolition of North Korea yesterday because Ronaldo thought he had a better game. That was nice of him.

In more news from the Portugal camp, midfielder Deco will have a scan on a hip injury on Tuesday after picking up a knock in the draw with Ivory Coast.

That is it for now; big news today is South Africa and France are out. We will find out very soon who the other two teams are and later tonight, very early tomorrow - we will have our Group C and D review posts coming out. So, come back soon.
